Aquarian the Librarian

Hoo! I can't tell you how much flack we got from the librarians when Paul Cardin and I put these out. We were both on the American Library Association's Intellectual Freedom Listserve.

Some of the librarians on the list were dear friends and allies, some were opponents but friends, and sOme were loOny as the day is long. We actually got into arguments about whether or not child pornography should be legal! Can you believe it?

We had some futuristic strips that were to be released later; but, amazingly, the far-fetched ideas Paul wrote involving library peep-shows and other sordid situations actually happened before I even got to draw them! eEp!

These were never intended as a slam against all librarians. Some have fought diligently to prevent children from being exposed to pornography and obscenity. It's unfortunate that others have been suckered by the ALA's party line.

bigtop civil rights don't leave home old man last defense

These strips were provocative and hopefully had an impact.
Anyway, we now have internet filtering in most public libraries.

These are kindy of jaggy, but you'll get the idea.
